Outline of Final Research Achievements |
After portal embolization, sinusoidal obstruction grade was significantly worsen in remnant liver lobe of rabbit NAFLD model. SMA staining area was significantly larger in each remnant liver lobe compared with normal control and NAFLD control liver. which means Portal vein embolization(PVE) induced the fibrotic change in not only embolized liver lobe and remnant lobe. These findings suggest that PVE induce the liver damage in remnant lobe. particular in fatty change liver, it was considered that fatty change and PVE induce sinusoid obstruction. We think sinusoid obstruction and liver fibrosis in future remnant liver would be the risk of unexpected fatal liver damage cannot be excluded in the patients with NAFLD after PVE.
