| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Research on cultural tourism starts recently in Japan. This project started to know the issues on tourism statistics, satellite accounts for culture, and satellite accounts for tourism.
Films, museums, cultural heritages, and other cultural activities attract tourists and strengthen city image. Governments support culture and creative industries by subsidy and tax incentives. Prof. Hemels and Goto published Tax incentives for the creative industries (Springer) in 2017. Moreover, Goto was invited as a guest speaker several conferences including the international symposium, and wrote several papers on cultural tourism. One of them is ‘Cultural tourism and regional economy; Focusing on the economic analysis of cultural tourism’ in the Journal of Annals of the Japan Association for regional economic studies.
