Outline of Final Research Achievements |
An ionic liquid has been developed that transforms into an amorphous coordination polymer when exposed to ultraviolet light and returns to liquid form when heated. The solid-liquid transformation is fully reversible. The ionic liquid contains a cationic ruthenium sandwich complex with cyano groups. This study reveals a method that creates coordination polymers by exposing liquids to light.
