Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In Drosophila ovarian somatic cells (OSCs), we discovered a cytoplasmic granular body named as flam body, where piRNA precursors accumulate (Murota et al. Cell Reports 2014). flam body is closely localized and partially overlapped with Yb body. Disruption of Yb expression in OSCs abolished flam body signals, suggesting that flam body and Yb body are interacted with each other in the process of piRNA biogenesis.
