Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Collective efficacy (CE) is an important factor for understanding how a group functions. Many researchers confirm that CE has a close relationship with performance, and that the concept of CE has high utility. However, a suitable CE scale has not yet been developed for the field of sports coaching, and most previous studies have not derived valuable findings with regard to potential applications in this field. The objectives of this study were to develop the Collective Efficacy Scale for Basketball Defense, and to examine the relationships between CE, cohesion, and "team performance" over the course of one season. The findings indicate that the practical application of CE through coaching is useful for reinforcing improvements in a basketball team’s performance, and will contribute to a better understanding of the dynamic process between CE and performance.
