Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was conducted to examine the associations between various environmental factors and the formation of exercise habits and increased bone mass among schoolchildren. The results indicated that girls spend less time exercising if they had a low birth weight or had parents with an educational level of 13 years or more. Boys of a lower socioeconomic status participated in fewer sports club activities than those of a higher socioeconomic status group. These results suggested that the social environment may influence the amount of time schoolchildren spend exercising. In addition, our study suggested that the increase in bone mass during puberty may be affected not only by exercise habits but also by sedentary behavior.
