Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We found a cell surface molecule successfully marked a cell population with features of cardiomyocyte-committed progenitors (we tentatively called the molecule as CCP). We generated CCP+ cardiac progenitor cell sheet and transplanted it to rat MI model. As a result, we observed cardiomyocytes derived from CCP+ cardiac progenitor cells within injured heart. These results suggested that CCP+ cardiac progenitor cells transplantation might be a promising therapy for cardiac regeneration.
