Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have investigated molecular mechanisms of therapeutic hypothermia in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy using a rat model. We have shown that hypothermia exerts its neuroprotective effects by changing cellular acetylation status through a coordinated suppression of acetyl-CoA.
