Outline of Final Research Achievements |
IL-33, a new member of the IL-1 cytokine family, is a ligand for the receptor ST2. We examined the role of IL-33, by making transgenic mice (hK14mIL33tg#1) which express IL-33 specifically in keratinocyte. Western blot analysis showed increased expression of full-length IL-33, not cleaved IL-33, in hK14mIL33tg#1 mice. Next, we generated Rag2KO/hK14mIL33tg#1 mice which lacks Th2 cells. Interestingly, Rag2KO/hK14mIL33tg#1 mice spontaneously developed atopic dermatitis. These results suggested that group2 innate lymphoid cells produce Th2 cytokines in Rag2KO/hK14mIL33tg#1 mice.
