| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated safety and effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for depression among Alzheimer's disease patients. We finished full evaluation of 4 participants and their caregivers, who are randomly allocated to tDCS or sham tDCS. No attrition has occurred due to adverse events. Scalp pain and tingling are more frequent in tDCS group than in sham tDCS group, but their severity is mild and no intervention was required. We found tDCS is safe for these frail patients, though we need more participants to evaluate its potential effectiveness.
