Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Malignant transformation of endometriotic epithelial cells required overexpression of c-myc or phospho-Akt or mutation of PIK3CA in addition to dysfunctional p53 and mutated KRAS. Since overexpresison of phospho-Akt or mutation of PIK3CA lead to activate c-Myc by its phosphorylation, c-Myc activation in ovarian endometrioma might play a key role in transformation in the presence of dysfunctional p53 and activated ERK pathway.
