Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To elucidate the molecular mechanism of occlusal trauma-induced alveolar bone resorption in chronic periodontitis, we focus on the roles of TRPV4 on the mechanical stress under chronic inflammation in osteoblasts. TRPV4 expression levels were increased during osteoblast differentiation. TRPV4-deficient osteoblast significantly suppressed shear stress-induced calcium oscillation. These results suggest that TRPV4 is involved in osteoblast differentiation via regulating intracellular calcium concentration.
