Outline of Final Research Achievements

In Japan, a novel separation technology of tritium in Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is urgently required. In this study, electric hydrogen isotope separation combined with fuel cell was proposed. We found that the hydrogen isotope could be concentrated in the production water at solid polymer fuel cell. We succeeded experimentally in separating the hydrogen isotope with lower electric energy.
