Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Mitochondria-associated ER membrane (MAM), the contact site between mitochondria and ER, is closely related with Alzheimer disease because MAM is increased in brain of Alzheimer's disease patients. We previously reported that mitochondrial ubiquitin ligase MITOL regulates MAM formation via Mitofusin2. In this study, we analyzed brain-specific MITOL knockout mice in order to elucidate MAM functions in brain. Moreover, we also generated MITOL-deficient Alzheimer's disease mouse models so that we studied the roles of MAM in Alzheimer's disease.
