Outline of Research at the Start	大学すなわち高等教育機関が立地しない地域において高等学校すなわち中等教育機関がその肩代わりをしていたような事例があるのではないか。換言すれば、「教育」「研究」そして「社会貢献」という大学の役割をかつて当該地域において高校が担っていた可能性があるのではないか、ということである。このような疑問を出発点として、「大学不在地域」における高校を拠点とした「高等教育レベルの社会教育」の存在の有無を確認し、存在したのならばそれはどのような形で実現していたのかを確認する。また、そのような教育現象が「高等教育研究」の射程なのかどうかについても検討する。
