Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、明治期から現代にかけて海外で暮らす経験をした日本出身者を対象に、どのような社会的背景を持つ人々がどの国へ移住し、移住先でどのような暮らしを築いたのかを明らかにする。世界各国の国勢調査や社会調査の個人レベルデータを統合したデータベースを構築し、南北アメリカ等の日本人移住者の学歴や職業を、日本国内の人口および各移住先国の人口と体系的に比較する。特に、歴史的に最大の移住先である米国については、複数の歴史人口データを連結したパネルデータを構築し、世代内・世代間移動を体系的に分析する。
