Research Abstract |
In recent years, the use of coal has been increasing as an energy source for power station. One of the problems burnimg coal is how to decrease the flyash in the atmosphere under the strict environmental regulation. In this research, a newly method of wet type electrostatic precipitation was developed so as to collect the small particles, which have sub-micron radius. with high efficiency. This method is based on the principle that heterogeneous mist formation around the particles results in enlargement of electric force due to increase of radius. According to the experimental and theoretical studies, the following results were obtained: 1. The mechanism of mist formation of ash particles and their transport process were clarified under the forced convective and corona-electric fields between parallel plates. 2. The efficiency of collenting particles was related with the configuration of equipments, Reynolds number based on the flow velocity, EHD Reynolds number based on the voltage, and dimensionless parameter <T^*> determined by temperature and humidity. 3. The optimum operating conditions were obtained in relation with configuration of equipments.
