Research Abstract |
The project proceeded following three sub-thema. 1) Population dynamics and stability of a mixed culture system; In the mixed culture system, population dynamics was described by a model. The activated sludge system was analyzed using this idea. It was shown that the system can be analyzed using a sophisticated population model. 2) Population dynamics and quality control; The quality control problem of a baker's yeast fed-batch culture was solved using models which took into account of population dynamics and a bang-bang type control became the optimal one. 3) Computer-aided quality control; The specific growth rate was estimated and controlled experimentally well by the developed control system. The optimal quality control was also achieved well.
