Research Abstract |
1. Cooperative measurement of <zeta> -potenital In order to examine the extent of the agreement of <zeta> -values measured by electrophoresis method, the examination of <zeta> -values arised from the distinction of measurement apparatus and the difference among individuals of the workers for measurement carried out. As the sample for the measurement and the simple microspherical particle, monodisperse polystyrene (PS) and styrene/sodium styrenesulfonate copolymer [P(St/NaSS)] latices used. The results were as follows. The difference of <zeta> -value among measurement apparatus became considerably small and the value among the same group of measurement apparatus agreed extremely. The difference among individuals of the worker was not recognized. The extent of the agreement of <zeta> -value for the use of P(St/NaSS) latex was greater than that of PS latex. This suggests that the wettability of latex relates to the measurement of <zeta> -potential. 2. Assignment investigation The pzc of surface oxides on ultrafine particles of Fe and Ni were measured. The fine particle of Graphite fluoride known as a new compound with an ultra-low surface energy was prepared, being dispersed in water and the stability was investigated. The deposition of copolymer latices having hydrophilic groups and polymer hydrogel layer on fibers were investigated. Experimental data on the amount of enzyme molecule immobilized and the conformation of protein molecules adsorbed on the microcapsule membrane were analyzed using the equation. Coagulation and coalescence of oil-in-water emulsion with inorganic electrolytes were investigated and interpreted in terms of the modified DLVO theory. The detachment of particles from substractes in aqueous solution was investigated by using a well-defined flow of electro-osmosis. The analyses on the condition and the mechanism forming a new ordered arrays of latices were carried out.
