hod regarding the images of several localities in the prefecture, are conducted in Matsumoto and its adiacent village in the central part of the prefecture. Remarkable findings are, that (i) in urban and suburban areas and in the villages visited by urban school children personal adaptability is observed higher than in communities under depopulation, and that (ii) they give in general higher evaluation score and lower action score to their localities whererver they exist, with the exception of those resident in the suburban zone who reveal definite pro-urban attitude. (4) An intensive sociological field work in Sakai township (Hanishina county) approaches local industry deveopment and peasant de-agriculturization since 1960s. The conclusions are, that (i) the machinery and other factories are supported by the local talent and capital, and that (ii) the peasant agriculture played an important role to establish industrial prosperity, and that (iii) the management persistency of the factories has arrested attention either domestic or international sicne 1973.
