Research Abstract |
It is said that Tsumiishizuka kofun, cairn in Japan were influenced by burial mound in Korean Penninsula. An object of our project is Omuro- Omurodani mound group which consist of many Tsumiishizuka. By examining the technique of mound construction, funeral objects and chronological order of mounds, we attempt to bring to light the formative process of mound group and unit, and its historic significance. Our investigation is as follows. 1) General survey; We confirmed that about 200 Omurodani group mounds were composed of some units which consist of 10 - 40 mounds, and recorded 47 mound data. 2) Surveying 13 mounds and 9 burial chambers; 12 mounds are Tsumiishizuka. Chamber structure consist of some types which indicate chronological order. 3) Excavations of No.220 and No.244 mounds. By excavations some harness, arms, beads, pottery-sueki.hajiki- were found and they showed formative period of each mound. This project makes only a part of our whole project. We wish eargerly to continue with our project.
