Research Abstract |
The rapid freezing method is useful for fixing the long-lasting contracted smooth muscle which showed an abnormal structure as the central vacant state. Such an abnormal structure was also obtained in vascular smooth muscle. Application of raped freezing method to whole vascular layer showed the fixed layer of 60 um without any ice-crystals. However, such a successful result has not been obtained so often and then, we are examining the test continuously. On the other hand, we succeded in preparing actin-fragmenting factor from vascular smooth muscle. The molecular weight of this protein is 84 K dalton and its effect was blocked by chloropeptide, an essential component of yellow rice. These results suggest that the appearance of actin filament has some relation to pathological feature through inhibitory effect to the physiological presence of 84 K actin-fragmenting factor.
