Research Abstract |
Unprecedented and the worst accident of Chernobyl nuclear-reactor which took place in April of last year, have taught us that important structures of same sort with nuclear facilities should be made rigidly so as to resist attacks of explosions or impacts. Therefore,it is urgently requested to develop the design method of explosion-resistant and impact-resistant structures. In order for the design of these structures subjected to explosion or impact, the most important step is to numerically estimate responses ( stress, strain, etc. ) of the structures. On the responses in such loadings,it is already reported by the authors that, though the responses of these structures are outstandingly multiple and complicated, they are mainly divided into two responses, one is primary responses which are due to stress waves and latter is secondary responses, elasto-plastic responses, and furthermore, these both responses are completely affected by rate effects which make changes of the relations between stress and strain concern,of the structures. The primary responses of structures are estimated by the data obtained in adequate experiments or plastic wbve analysis which is considerably complicated. The secondary response are estimated by ordinary elasto-plastic dynamic response analysis, except for the considerations of the rate effects, mentioned above, and preceeding fractures due to primary responses. There are some unfavorable rate effects for explosion-resistant and impact-resistant design of reinforced concrete structures, for example, dynamic shear fracture and bond stress distribution on reinforcements set in concrate under impact or explosion.
