Research Abstract

(1) THE ISOZYME VARIATION SHOWS THE AMOUNT OF SEROLOGICALLY CROSS-REACTION MATERIAL AND THE VARIATION PATTERN INTIMATLY RELATED WITH THE PHYLOGENETIC SCHEME OF PLANT SPECIES.
(2) THE PRESENT STUDY WAS CONDUCTED TO EXAMINE THE GENETICAL FACTORE CONTROLLING COLD TOLERANCE OF RICE CULTIVARS IN INDICA,JAPONICA AND JAVANICA ECOSPECIES, FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL VARIATION OF ISOZYMES DURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLANTS.
(3) MAINLY, THERMAL DENATURATION EXPERIMENTS WITH SOME ENZYMES FROM THREE RICE ECOTYPES LOCATED IN THE DIFFERENT GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRICTS.
(4) THE ACTIVITY OF THE ISOZYME CHANGES DURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF RICE PLANT DIFFERED FROM ENZYME TO ENZYME. SOME ISOENZYMES WERE SPECIAL TO JUVENILE LEAVES, SOME TO RAPIDLY EXPANDING LEAVES AND OTHER TO THE OLDER ONES.
(5) ESTERASES WERE CLASSIFIED INTO THREE TYPES, WHICH WERE STABLE, INSTABLE AND MUCH MORE ACTIVATED TO COLD TEMPERATURE. JAPONICA HAS THE SPECIFIC ISOZYME WHICH WERE MORE INCREASED THE ACTIVITY UNDER THE COLD CONDITION, WHILE IN INDICA THE ENZYME WAS UNABLE TO BE OBSERVED. PEROXIDASE WIDELY VARIATED IN THE DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF RICE CULTIVARS.
