Research Abstract |
Significant footpad swelling was observed in mice immunized with tricalcium phosphate ceramic at 2 and 4 weeks after immunization. Antigenic specificity was demonstrated in cross-over design. Time course of the reaction suggest that delayed-type hypersensitivity played an important role. On the other hand, mice were died after administration of apatite-wollastonite glass ceramic. The death was induced by the ceramic powder itself, and was not induced by the supernatant of the powder. Significant footpad swelling showed the presence of delayed-type hypersensitivity against apatite-wallostonite. The adsorption behavior of cytochrome c on silica obeys the Langumuir adsorption irotherm. Furthermore, silica induced electron transfer of cytochrome c.
