Research Abstract |
We have been developing the mutual communicable hearing-aid system for profoundly hearing-impaired children, at first loop-coil type, then FM wave type by this research project. This system has been developed such that teacher-child as well as child-child mutual communication could be effectuated with a high signal-to-noise ratio(S/N). The FM wave type system was perfected in 1985 and applicated from April 1985 to February 1987 in the classroom of 4 to 5 years old children of National School for the Deaf annexed to University of Tsukuba, Home hearing-aid system was developed in parallel and applicated to the same subjedts. After two years'application, effects of this system were described as follows: 1. According to teachers who uused this system, constant use of the mutual communicable hearing-aid system, FM wave type as well as loop-coil type, made possible the real mutual communication among the deaf subjects. As for the way of using, FM wave type was considerd more convenient than the other type. Home hearing-aid sysem was also judged effective 2. By an analytic study on the communication patterns among the children under this svstem for two years, teachers'opinions were objectively poroved, that is to say, the real mutual communication among them were significantly developed during these years both in quantity and in quality.
