Research Abstract |
Among the various proposals for future high energy accelerators, a 10 - 20 km TeV <e^+e_-> linear collider is under active consideration. Such a design would require 100 MV/m acceleration gradient. In order to realize such a high gradient, high power tests were conducted with a traveling wave accelerating structure by using a resonant ring which was developed by RF group of KEK Photon Factory. The accelerating structure composed of S-band disk-loaded cavities with a total effective length of 17.5 cm. An accelerating gradient of 104.5 MV/m was obtained with a 219.5 MV/m peak field at the disk surface.
