Research Abstract |
The purpose of this project was the construction of a proto-type of ultrasonic imaging system of the nonlinear parameter B/A, which is considered as one of the most promising and significant new parameters for tissue characterization. The principle has already been proposed by the authors, where an impulsive high pressure pumping wave is used to give rise nonlinear effect and a high frequency contineous probing wave detects the generated effects as its phase change. The system was constructed according to the plan using 5MHz probing wave and 500MHz bursted pumping wave in combination with special signal processors and color display system. The details were reported in the references (1),(2). Its characteristics have been examined by using both phantoms in vitro and small animals in vivo. The results showed clearly the usefullness of the device. These results were also presented as an invited paper of an international symposium as is shown in the reference (3).
