Research Abstract |
This study analyzes the relations between the transportation area and the road network in the urban area and develops the evaluation process based on the results of the analysis. The deatil objectives are stated as follows. 1. Using the Person Trip Survey data in the metoropolis, the ralations between business activities and road network structure are empirically analyzed, in which the chaining approaches are employed. 2. The transportation area model is developed based on the business activities in the urban area and the evaluation process is discussed applying the model. The future structure of the road network in the metoropolis is considered. The following results are obtained by the research for two yaers. 1. The P.T. Survey data in Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe Metoropolis in 1980 is used for the analysis, especially focused on the business activity pattern. Trip chaining approach is available to discuss the relations between the transportation flow pattern and the network structure. 2. It is assumed that the interaction between the office base and the sojourns is the principle element which consists the transportation area. For the description of the business activities related to the network, the transportation area model is proposed. 3. For the given alternatives of the road improvement in the area, the effects of the network structure on the several core transportaion area in the metrolopolis is evaluated by the area model.
