Research Abstract |
To develop a new prospecting method, a series of fundamental study on the seismic wave attenuation in earth material is performed. 1. A new method to evaluate the quality factor Q of earth material is proposed and the values of Q are estimated by using this method in in-situ. 2. The extentional procedures of Hales's method for the case of irregular ground surface and multi-layers are discussed and it is proved that these procedures can be applied to the irregular ground surface and multi-layers problem. 3. A numerical method to analyse the wave propagation and/or the dynamic stress field in constant Q medium is developed and some numerical results by this method are shown.
