Research Abstract |
Recently, highly loaded coal-water mixtures have been taken as relatively new fuels into consideration from economical standpoints of view. Its fuel, however, has many problems to be improved, i.e., reduced viscosity of highly concentrated coal slurry, stability maintained as a slurry fuel during more than one month and so forth. In the present investigation, focus is on preparation of three phase slurry composed of coal, gas and water and on its rheological behavior such as apparent slurry-viscosity and its dynamic stability. From these approaches, we have obtained the results as follows : At first, based on survey of published literatures, the most important problems to be solved under preparation of highly loaded coal-water slurry have been elucidated concerning limited coal-concentration of slurry and period of its stability. Secondary, thixotropical behavior of coal-water slurry has been analyzed by resorting to a stochastic approach. The model parameter proposed gives rise to quantitative representation of dynamic stability. More specifically, the relationship between its parameter and experimental conditions for slurry preparation has been proposed. The third is that measurements of apparent viscosity in the higher range of shear rate have been made by means of the micro-cylindrical viscometer and a method of preparation of coal-water slurry including micro-bubbles has been discovered experimentally. The last is that rheological properties of coal-gas-water slurry have been studied. The propensity of the slurry-expansion to temperature has been provided quantitatively. Moreover, the ratio of gas phase to slurry volume have been measured by means of relatively new supersonic system. The results mentioned above have leaded to the strategies of design for preparation in the system under consideration.
