Research Abstract |
Summary of the results of the project are as follows; (1) The principle of atrio-ventricular septal wall driven artificial heart pump was invented, and was designed. (2) The blood pump was not necessary to have compliance chamber which is inevitablly provided in the designe of implantable mechanical driven heart. (3) Double sack type and a diaphragm type pump were designed and produced as prototypes, and these blood pumps were installed in piston type drive mechanism. (4) The results of the prototype pump testing showed that these pumps had very low inflow fluidic resistance. The systolic phase and diastolic phase of the pump happened at the same time. (5) From the animal experiments, if the inflow venous return is enough volume to inspire, there are no vacume pressure in atrium and venous system. On less venous return than pump sucking volume, the venous system causes negative pressure and it requires the control of sucking speed of the pump. (6) Free diaphragm type artificaila heart pump was developed as a spin-off products. (7) Linear-actuator coupled free diaphragm pump was developed and tested in a mock circulation.
