| Research Abstract |
Studies of new radiation dosimetry have been made using the microwave spectr-scopy of electron spin resonance (ESR) and the permanetly charged dielectrics of an electret. ESR dosimetry of human tooth enamel has been successfully applied to obtain the radiation exposure of atomic bomb survivors at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Several procedures for sample preparation was made to estimate the A-bomb dose for tooth and for granite bridge pillars. Computer-controlled ESR and its automatic sample changer was made for a commercial ESR spectrometer. Electret dosimeters, on the other hand was used for the detection of tritium beta rays as a tritium monitoring and also for the fast neutrons (14 MeV). The results of these works have been published in various journals as shown separately. Application to the paleo-dosimetry for fossils is utilized as ESR dosimetry.
