Research Abstract |
New findings of this research project are as follows; 1. Kallikrein was found to stimulate prostacyclin production in endothelial cells in culture. Regarding this phenomena, it was disclosed that kallikrein could produce a new peptide which could stimulate phospholipase A_2 of endothelial cells in a significant way. (S.Murota) 2. Platelet-activating factor was found to be able to stimulate metabolism phosphoinositides through phospholipase A_2 in primary cultured rat hepatocytes. (T.Ishibashi) 3. PGD_2 binding to rabbit platelets was found to increase by sbout 150% in the presence of isoproterenol. It was suggested that a B_2-adrenoceptor-mediated cAMP-dependent mechanism exists for the regulation of PGD_2 receptor binding in rabbit platelets. (A.Ichikawa) 4. Leukotoxin, a linoleate epoxide, was discovered from human burned skin and it was found that leukotoxin showed a typical uncoupling effect on mitchondrial respiration. (T.Ozawa) 5. Using 2 different rat allergic inflammatory models: IgE-mediated and IgE-antigen complex-induced pleurisies, roles of leukotrienes in inflammation was studied. (M.Karoti) 6. Molecular cloning of a cDNA coding for human LTA_4 hydrolase was achieved. (T.Shimuzu) 7. It was suggested that protein kinase C served as an inhibitor for PGE_1-induced Ca^<2+> influx in Swiss 3T3 cells. (Y.Takai) 8.
