Research Abstract |
A NEW PROJECT "CYCLOTRON CASCADE" HAS BEEN APPROVED. THE MAIN FACILITY IS A SEPARATED-SECTOR RING CYCLOTRON FOLLOWING THE AVF CYCLOTRON. WITH THE ACCELERATOR SYSTEM, BEAMS OF PROTONS AND ALPHAS OF 400 MeV ARE AVAILABLE. AN EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE PRODUCTION OF HIGH QUALITY BEAMS TO ENABLE PRECISE EXPERIMENTS. TO GET NALLOW PHASE BEAMS, A BEAM BUNCHER IS USED BETWEEN THE INJECTOR CYCLOTRON AND RING CYCLOTRON. A MODEL OF THE BEAM BUNCHER RESONATOR SYSTEM HAS BEEN FABRICATED. THE RESONATOR IS A QUARTER WAVE VARIABLE FREQUENCY (90 - 130 MHz) COAXIAL TYPE. A <pi> -MODE DRIFT TUBE MODULATES BEAM VELOCITY TO LONGITUDINALLY FOCUS THE BEAM PHASE. THE BUNCHER HAS BEEN EXCITED UPTO 130 kV AT SEVERAL FREQUENCIES BY POWER AMPLIFIER. THE DEVELOPMENTS HAVE SOLVED THE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS TO CONSTRUCT THE REAL BUNCHING SYSTEM. OPTICS OF THE BEAM TRANSFER LINE ARE ALSO IN STUDYING.
