Research Abstract |
IN ORDER TO CLARIGY THE INTEGRATION OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS (HBV-DNA) INTO THE LIVER CELL DNA AND REPLICATION OF HBV FOLLOWING ADMINISTRATION OF GLUCOCORTICOID(PREDNISOLONE, PSL), WE INVESTIGATED THE CHANGE OF HBV-DNA IN SERA AND LIVERS IN PATIENTS WITH HBEAG POSITIVE CHRONIC HEPATITIS TREATED WITH PSL. HBV-DNA IN SERA INCREASED FOLLOWING PSL ADMINISTRATION. THREE WEEKS AFTER PSL USE THE INCREASE OF HBV-DNA BECAME MAXIMUM AND THE INCREASED RATIO WAS 3.2 TIMES BEFORE THE TREATMENT. ALTHOUGH FREE HBV-DNA IN LIVERS INCREASED BY PSL, THE INTEGRATION OF HBV-DNA INTO LIVER CELL DNA WAS NOT NEWLY DETECTED. PSL PROGRESS THE REPLICATION OF HBV TEMPORALLY, BUT IT WAS NOT INCREASE THE INTEGRATION OF HBV-DNA INTO LIVER CELL DNA, SO THE RISK OF CANCER OCCURENCE MAY BE LITTLE OR NONE.
