Research Abstract |
IN THIS RESEARCH, WE HAVE POINTED OUT THAT THE 6.6 kV CV CABLE SYSTEM BEHACES DIFFERENTLY FROM THE OVERHEAD SYSTEM UNDER THE ONE-LINE GROUND FAULT. THIS IS THE CASE BECAUSE THE 6.6 kV SYSTEM IS A CAPACITIVE CIRCUIT AND THERMAL DISINTEFRATION OF POLYETHYLENE AT THE FAULT POINT PRODUCES A VIGOROUSLY EJECTING ORGANIC GAS, WHICH HAS GREAT EFFECT ON THE ARC BEHAVIOR AT THE FAULT POINT. THUS THE FAULT ARC BECOMES AN INTERMITTENT ARC WHICH PRODUCES A COMPLICATED OVERVOLTAGE. THIS RESEARCH HAS ANALYZED THE EFFECT OF INTERMITTENT ARC BY BOTH EXPERIMENTAL AND SIMULATION METHODS. THE TRANSIENT OVERVOLTAGE OF 6.6 kV NO-INSULATED NEUTRAL SYSTEM REACHES 3 pu. JUST AFTER THE FAULT OCCURRENCE AND THE STEADY-STATE OVERVOLTAGE REACHES 2.0 pu. TO SUPPRESS THEM BELOW 2 pu, IT IS NECESSARY TO GROUND THE NEUTRAL WITH A RESISTANCE OF LESS THAN 50 ohm.
