Research Abstract |
In Okayama prefecture, various crops are grown in upland fields, and the crop combination and cropping pattern are affected by the natural condition and the economic and social situation of the location. Field crop cultivation was classified into fourteen types. A-type has no dominant crop without herbage crop, and is distributed northern and southern part. B-type was characterlized by radish cultivation in the northern part. C-type has two rowed barley in plain area. These three types depend on land extensive cultivation. D-type has significantly larger land of soybeans and two rowed barley than other area, and occupied central area of Okayama. E-type was characterlized by abundance of crop complex, especially in root crops, i.e. white potato, sweet potato, satoimo (Colocacia antiquorum). F-type has barley, azuki bean, tobacco, buckwheat. G-type was characterized by cultivation of tea in north area. Each of seven types, H-type to N-type, was peculiar in its crop complex.
