| Research Abstract |
Objectives of this investigation are as follows which are for the proposal on the standardization of CSG shape data for solid model used in CSD/CAM.
1. To obtain uniqueness of CSG(Constructive Solid Geometry) data structure. 2. To garantee possibility of mutual conversion between standard and other CSG data. 3. To develope a man machine interface to generate standard CSG data. 4. To develope a conversion method from CSR data to B-Reps(Boundary Represontaions) data 5. To propose the standard CSG data format and data structure. 6. To develope an interface to input shapes described by the standard and some application programs for computer graphics, NC code generator and robot simulator.
These objectives have been performed. The proposed CSG tandard consists of 16 primitives such as cuboid, cylinder and cone, etc. Surfaces of these primitives are formed by quadratic equations. Both types of CSG structure, the tree structure and the 2 layers structure, can be combined as the standard data structure. And the hierarchical structure of segment-macro-part-unit is adopted where segments and macros are related by set opration of union, intersection and difference, and every part is connected by the operators; slide, rotation and fix.
