Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to thing better of mattressos on bedridden elderly people by using 3 parameters of body movements,i.e.,frequency of body movements per hour (FB),mean rest period time(MR) and maximum rest period time(MAR). The results can be summarized as follows; 1)Three kinds of special mattressos were tosted, which were P.E(polyester), P.U(polyurethane) and M(magnetism). On evaluation using the 3 parameters of body movements, P.E was the best quality, which was followed by P.U and M. 2) The analysis of the survey showed that the normalized scores of the bedridden elderly patients were 1.65-14.50. These scores were higher than the standard score, but none caused the decubitus ulcers. 3)Three parameters of the bedridden elderly patients were as follows;a)FB was 6.5/3.9(day/night) movements, b)MR was 13.5/28.5(day/night) minutes, and c)MAR was 51.6/131.0(day/night) minutes. MR showed a significant difference between day and night. 4)The data of the elderly patients were compared with that of the young women. For the elderly patients,FB was minor, both MR and MAR were longer. 5)No relation showed between the body movements and the bed climate.
