Research Abstract |
The objective of this research project is to develop a mesuring system which is capable of measuring the physiomechanics micromodel parameters (Young's modulus, poisson's ratio, water potential effect coefficients) of vegetative tissue. The measuring system consists of three major systems :1) computer controlled uniaxial compres-sion device systemwhich can handle microscopic size samples of vegetative tissue, 2) image processing system used for image data samplingfor tissue sample deformation,3) numerical data processing system to estimate physiomecha-nics parameters. An additional Important system is a tissue water potential level control system of which main part is a computer controled PEG solution injection device. The followings are reading findings and developments in this project. 1.A Kalman filter finite element inverse analysis is implemented on a microcomputer. The FEM inverse program can handle 2 dimentional axisymmetric elasticity problems. 2.The following methods were used to inspect the performance of this developed measuring system. 1) A synthetic rubber of which Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio were known was used to test the reliabi-lity of estimation system of the developed system. 2) Lesar displacement measuring device were used to perform a direct mesurement of water potential effect coefficient using potato tissue. 3.The sufficient reliability of the developed measuring system was substaitiated by the inspection tests. 4.The parameters were determined with seven different kinds of vegetables (Peper, Potato, ripe tomato, lotus, mushroom, onion, cucumber) . the conventional testing method has not been able to handle those products due to their trouble handling nature.
