Research Abstract |
The project aims at making survey on the contents and methods of schooltextbook researches and on the trends of textbook improvement studies in such foreign countries as U.S.A., U.S.S.R., France, West Germany, U.K., Scandinavian Countries, and China. In 1986 two members of the project were sent to U.S.S.R., West Germany, France, and U.S.A. for the preliminary survey to find out the recent change of schooltextbook systems and some efforts for improving textbooks in those countries. Based on the result of the preliminary survey and the information obtained through questionaire survey about textbook researches, seven members were sent to Sweden, West Germany, France, Suitzerland, Austria, U.K., U.S.A., and visited the related govermental offices, public, and private institutions and organizations, and made interviewings with the experts of schooltextbook matters and the editors of schooltextbook publishers, and collected as much information and materials as possible. As the result of the survey, the report "Comparative General Studies on the Inprovement of Schooltextbook --Report of Study Abroad in 1987" was published, and it contains the list of collected materials and the list of organizations which are engaged in textbook researchis. It is necessary to have the comprehensive survey on how to improve schooltextbooks from various aspects which have already dealt with in foreign countries. And next year that subject is planed to study.
