Research Abstract |
It has been postulated that hepatitis B virus (HBV) has an intimate relationship with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is supposed that some co-factors, such as afratoxin or malnutrition might promote hapatocarcinogenesis due to HBV. Question is that whether good nutrtional condition might prevent hepatocarcinogenesis due to HBV or not. We inverstigated the incidence to HCC in Tonga. Because in Tonga, carrier rate of HBV is very high and nutritional condition is rather good. Results are followes; carrier rate of HBV is high as 15%, however incidence of HCC is relatively low. There for, good mutritional condition might prevent hepatocarconogensis due to HBV.
