| Research Abstract |
About 400 sound tapes and 150 video tapes were collected in the field research during 1986-1987. These field research covered most of the major areas in Arctic and Sub-arctic of Alaska and Canada and made possible to get the outline of the traditional Eskimo music, dance and game based on the comparision of each region s. One of the several matters which was revealed by these materials is that the drum dance of Alaska Eskimo present the typical example of direct refiection of group labour on musical expressions and form of performance. The drum dance team ranging from 5 to 10 peoples beat the same rythm in perfect order,while several drumers facing to drumers. Such drum dance team exist only Chukchee, Asiatic and Alaska Eskimo who experience systematic team work of whale hunting.
