| Research Abstract |
The research of comparative ecological study on urban ecosystem was done as part of an exchange of results between Yokohama National Universiyt and the University of the Saar- land,which made an agreement as sister universities in 1981.We have proceeded since then with cooperative research towards comparative global study,through field studies and re- search achievements in specialized feilds,aimed at establishment of scientific research on urban ecosystems.Integrated research in urban ecology,environmental science and tech- nology were done by the staff of Yokohama Nation.Univ.and prof.Paul Muller's Group(Saar- land).In October 1987,An excursion covering as well as actual and potential natural vege- tation and viological monitoring was held in saarbrucken city and neighboring areas along the Saar river in West Germany.In February 1988,Prof.Dr.P.Muller and three scientists were invited to Japan.And after field excursion.the third International Symposium on Urban Ecology and the partner agreement was held.Considering the circumstances mentioned avove,the importance of the developement of international cooperative research was mutuall confirmed.
