Research Abstract |
In China there were not enough basic data for transportation planning. If there were enough data, it was difficult to bring out them from China. Moreover, Tenamon Affair in 1989 made this cooperative study stop for about 6 months. This study was made from the each Japanease and Chinease standpoint and the study menbers gathered together and discussed the results of studies in Japan and China 6 times for these 3 years. The summary of the results was shown below. The person trips and goods movement survey in Dalian City were made by Dalian University in 1987. In 1988 and 1989 travel demand was analized and forecasted. According to the data bicycle travel demand was large, rates of work and education trips to total trips was larger than in Japan and congesions in evening and traffic accidents were serious problems. Therefore, forcasting models of urban travel demand for China must be developed. A study group of Hiroshima University studied on facing problems in planning in China, such as (1)basic concept of development of urban system, (2)development of urban travel demand forcasting in Japan, (3)evaluation methods for road traffic safety policies, (4)a short-term method of controlling congestion in urban area, (5)geology and geotechnical properties in Dalian, (6)the effectiveness of ordered stated preference data for mode choice models. As for geology and geotechnical properties, since there were no geological and geotechnical problems for constructing infrastructures in Dalian City, the structures for transportations should be constructed above the ground than under the ground. Finally we hope that this study contributes to the developments of transportation study in China.
