Research Abstract |
This report presents a comprehensive review of dynamic behaviours, failures and design concepts of offshore structures in ocean engineering and ocean development. The various concepts and techniques available to specify the selection of concepts of offshore structures, the load environment of waves, the methods for accurately predicting the structural responses or failure modes that are the key to an overall safe, efficient and reliable design of offshore structures. We are focusing on studying the following objectives: [a] Evaluate the required technology considering diversity, complexity, and economics. The technology includes the subjects of environmental assesment for ocean development, hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, failure mechanics, design methods and advanced engineering mathematics including numerical methods. [b] Demonstrate the difficulty of attaining accuracy with existing technological procedures and investigate the potential of recent develpopments in modern methods in computational and experimental mechanics.
