Research Abstract |
IN STUDYING AOMORI-TOKYO REGIONAL MOBILITY OR MIGRATION, THE AUTHORS FOUND. "SOCIAL CONTEXT" CONCEPT USEFUL IN UNDERSTANDING THE WHOLE MOBILITY STRUCTURE. I.E,WHY AND HOW DO PEOPLE DECIDE TO MOVE IN PREMOBILE STAGE? IS THERE ANY SYSTEM TO FACILITTATE AND ENCOURAGE THE MOBILITY? HOW DO PEOPLE ADJUST TO NEW COMMUNITIES IN POST-MOBILE STAGE? FURTHERMORE, "WHAT IS THE REAL MEANING OF MOBILITY FOR INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES?" IS CONSIDERED. THIS INQUIRY IS DEVIDED INTO TWO PARTS, ONE IS THEORETICAL DISCUSSION ON REGIONAL MOBILITY. ANOTHER IS CASE STUDY, INTENCIVE INTERVIEW RECORDS OF MOVERS' LIFE-COURSES. AS FOR THEORETICAL DISCUSSIONS,WE FIRSTLY RE-EXAMINE SELECTED STUDIES ON "EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MOBILITY". THESE STUDIES HAVE MUCH CONCERNED WITH PROCESSES OF MOBILITY, BUT, LESS CONCERNED WITH THE SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT OR ADAPTAION PROCESSES IN POST-MOBILE PHASE. AS FOR THE INTERVIEWS TO THE MOBILE-PERSONS, WE PRIMARILY FOCUS ON THE PROBLEM, "WHAT INFLUENCE DO SUCH INVOLVEMENT HAVE ON THE CHANGES OF LIFE-STYLES? WHAT KIND OF SOCIAL NETWORKS DO MAKE THE ADAPTAION PROCESSES SMOOTHER?" FOR PARTICULARS REFER TO THE REPORT ENTAITLED "A STUDY OF SOCIAL CONTEXT OF REGIONAL MOBILITY" NEITHER PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS NOR "DOKYO-SOSIKI", ASSOCIATIONS OF PEOPLE FROM THE SAME PROVINCE, PROVIDE IN CRISIS "HAVENS OF SAFETY." THEY PROVIDE A PSYCHOLOGICAL "CUSION" DURING THE TRANSITIONAL PHASE, VERY EARY STAGE AFTER THE MOBILITY.
