Research Abstract |
Our research project was carried out to promote our study on the urban societies in Islamic world, related to the scientific research on priority area "Urbanism in Islam" which started in 1988. The followings are the main field of our research; 1. In 1988 we visited Cairo, Tunis, Alger, Damascus, Aleppo, Istanbul, Rabat, Madrid and Venice to engage in research into the urban societies both in the Middle East and South Europe. 2. In 1989 we chose three cities in South East Asia, i.e. Bangkok, Singapore and Jakarta to compare them with the Middle Eastern cities cited above. 3. in 1990 we published the research report titled " A Comparative Study of the Formation and Transformation of the Islamic Urban Societies"based on these field researches.
