| Research Abstract |
Archaeological and ethnohistorical research was carried out at the Nunainguq site in northern Quebec, and the Pelly Bay site near Pelly Bay in the N.W.T., Canada. Research at Nunainguq, involving excavation of two semi-subterranean houses, provided data concerning early 20th century occupations by a basically traditional Inuit group, as well as data on a Dorset culture occupation.
Research at Pelly Bay resulted in data concerning early 20th century subsistence and settlement activities. Of particular interest is the ethno-historical data gathered concerning caribou hunting using inukshuk, and information about a special type of fishing weir.
